2/28/2017 0 Comments Step Inside My ClosetSo when I think of a typical girls' closet, I tend to think of severely overflowing and possibly just a huge mess. But hey, maybe that's just my closet! At home, I've got a total of 3 closets to store all of my clothes, shoes, scarves, bags, and whatever else. So as you may imagine, moving into a dorm was super hard. I wanted to bring each and every item of clothing I owned, but that little closet wasn't close enough to compare to the 3 closets at home. I had my closet full to where you could barely move the hangers (which is THE worst) and the drawers stocked full. Lets talk about what I keep in these 3 closets of mine!
When it comes to clothing, I used to have no sense of style whatsoever. Throughout high school I sort of got my groove but fell into the trap of wearing nothing but shorts, t-shirts, sweats, and sweatshirts ALL senior year. No joke, I looked homeless all the time. I am almost embarrassed to say that I wore the lame high school t-shirts almost everyday. Since Adam was away at school while I was still in high school, I had the "I have no one to impress" idea going I suppose. Adam is one who has a very keen sense of style when it comes to both shoes and clothes. I sometimes joke that he's more of the girl than I am. He is in the know with the best kicks and is kind enough to tell me when I straight up look terrible, which is better than it sounds. I (now in college) have finally found a bit of a groove and have a sort of style that fits me for me. I would say I don't really stick to the "trends" per say, yet do fix up a few "basic" outfits sometimes. The trend for young women right now seems to be leggings/jeans with a pair of wedged boots (black or brown, they're all the same.) So, I guess I am proud to say I don't own any booties so I don't feel too basic ;) No offense to anyone wearing the boots with pants thing, it's all good. This is a long blog, I know.. but stick with me! SO ANYWAYS. My style either consists of jeans and some sort of top or leggings with some sort of top. I have finally strayed away from wearing high school t-shirts and wear actual IU gear or just normal human shirts. I usually do jeans shopping at either American Eagle, Forever 21, or Hollister. All have things that'll fit to what I'm looking for just depends if I want to spend a ton for AE jeans or find some deals at Forever 21. When it comes to tops I literally go anywhere. Once again, AE, Forever 21, Hollister (very seldom wonder in unless there if they're having a big sale), Old Navy, and here recently boutiques! I've found a boutique here in Bloomington that I LOVE - Piace Boutique and one in Greenwood that I am obsessed with - Raelynn's. I am finding that I am into camo and colors such as black, army green, cream/white, and maroon. I picture myself to be a popular fan of athletic wear. Love, love, love, Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour attire. Accessories were never something I used really prior to college, but I'm now finding I am all about accessorizing. I pick up items here and there at the boutique here in town and I've been wearing my necklaces/chokers, bracelets, and earrings much more often. Lastly, lets talk about my shoes! I am a shoe fanatic and it just so happens Adam is as well, so basically we encourage one another to buy most likely way too many shoes. I often wear Vans, Converse, Adidas - Stan Smith's, Toms, and at home obviously my cozy slippers. When it comes to athletic shoes I own mostly Nike shoes, but do own a pair of Brooks which are SO comfortable by the way. To sum this all up, I could shop just about anywhere and enjoy finding all sorts of new things whether it's shoes, clothes, accessories, etc. Online shopping is one of my best hobbies and is really my favorite way to shop. No crowds, lines, and best of all you don't even have to leave the couch! As I leave you, I'd love to hear of any different stores/sites that you all shop from that I could check out, so please comment below if you've got any suggestions! Happy Wednesday :) xoxo, mackenzie

2/27/2017 0 Comments Meet MeSo I am totally aware that you can click on the "About" page and learn some things about myself, however, this will be way more in depth!
Like mentioned in the blogs and the "About Me" page, I am currently enrolled in school at IU - Bloomington. I arrived here in the fall of 2016 and so far and highly satisfied with my school and the town surrounding it! I enjoy to bake, running (when I'm feeling active), reading, coloring, exploring, and most of all hanging out with my family. I consider myself to be somewhat shy before really getting to know me, but very open and loving once you've gotten close. While I often times can be outspoken, I try my best to stand up for myself and most often will speak my mind. I am VERY sassy and become even sassier when I'm hungry. When it comes to people in my life, I am SUPER close with my family. I was beyond excited to leave for school, yet I miss them more than ever. Luckily for myself, I only live just a short hour and a half away from where I call home. I am also beyond lucky with having a family member who works in Bloomington. I get home cooked meals sent this way when my grandpa works and if I ever forget anything I can count on him to bring it! I can't explain how nice it is to have someone coming from home a few times a week. Seriously, it is the best. I have two brothers and one sister, all younger and my parents are split. When I'm not at school I am living at home with my grandparents, which has its many pros and cons, but I love it. When I say "grandparents" I don't mean grandparents who use walkers to get around, I mean grandparents as they just reached their 60's. They are quite young and full of life! Fun fact, I was an oops baby so I have very young parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, ect. I am currently in a relationship with a cute human named Adam, who is literally my other half. While he can be quite the hand full, he's my rock and I'd be lost without him keeping me in check. Throughout high school I was a member of the volleyball and tennis teams, so therefore those are my favorite when it comes to sports I myself play. When it comes to sports I enjoy watching, I am a fan of basketball (preferably college) and football. Baseball isn't too terrible, just not my favorite. I am a Duke basketball fan and a Denver football fan, reasons why? The football influence comes from my dad and the basketball influence comes from Adam (before I was a UK fan.) My favorite color is teal, not blue or light blue, teal. It's a one of a kind and I'm obsessed! My favorite animal pet wise would have to be a dog and non-pet wise is a hippopotamus. I own 2 hippo Pillow Pets and also a couple of other stuffed animals, cool right? Once arriving to college I quickly learned that my roommate and I were far from ever going to get along (which is a possibility when you go completely random). We are both very different people and while I wish her the best, we will never be the the roommates who become best friends for life. So quickly into the start of the semester I made the move to begin staying with Adam. He lives about 6 minutes from campus in a house that is much more cozy than a tiny dorm room! So I currently live with Adam and his 4 roommates. Luckily, they're all great people and are very welcoming about the whole situation. Obviously, since I wasn't meant to live here since the beginning there isn't an overload of room for me, but we've made it work! I actually even share a closet with one of the guys, bless these people for allowing my huge amount of clothes to move into the home as well. I've become super good, maybe too good of friends with a couple of the guys and it is seriously SO fun. We go for lunch every Friday, have "pal days" meaning we sit around and do nothing, grocery shop, and they even tell me when I'm looking good or even when I'm looking terrible..what more could I ask for in my pals? ;) That's all for now, I hope that gives you a little insight to who I am and what I like so you can feel a little closer to me while reading these things! xoxo, mackenzie 2/23/2017 0 Comments CollegeWhat's the first thing that comes to mind when you think college? Maybe parties, sporting events, school, friends, we've all got something different! My idea of college (before arriving) was that it would be THE coolest thing ever. I couldn't wait to leave high school and enter college, literally, it was the only thing I thought of. For myself, I was ready to leave my hometown, the people, and find a little separation from my family to be myself. Turns out, I got it all.
I arrived on campus back in August of 2016. I was going to be living in a double with a random roommate, by random I mean never met them before in my life. That part in itself was enough to make me beyond nervous, I couldn't imagine just walking in and living with a random girl. Another minimal to many, yet huge worry for myself was the food. I am one of the biggest picky eaters many will ever meet so I was praying that campus would have some variety. Surely enough, I am a sucker for the pasta and deli subs, I basically live off of those items. Besides the 80 degree dorm room, huge campus which had me turning in circles, and random roommate situation, I survived! Now in February of 2017 I am a "college know it all" at least I tell myself that. I have successfully changed my major 3 times already, finally mapped out the campus, and randomly cried probably 17 times. College will see the best and absolute worst from you, however it is all about what YOU make it. If you enter school thinking you will have the best time of your life and nothing bad will ever happen, oh boy will you be disappointed. SO many things will go wrong, yet you'll figure it all out in the end. Be positive and things will eventually start to go your way, no matter how much your worst class sucks. Things will get better! As for seniors in high school, don't wish a moment away, you'll miss it whether you say so or not. Be happy for college, but know you will have a half a million negative moments for every positive one. :) As this was my first blog, I have no idea how it all works! I sort of just rambled, but let me know what you all thought! xoxo, mackenzie |
